Syndecpharma Ltd

Syndecpharma Ltd is a pre-seed biotechnology company advancing a patented peptide therapeutic platform with dual anti-angiogenic and anti-fibrotic activity. Our approach targets extracellular matrix–mediated mechanisms central to diseases such as neovascular eye disease, chronic inflammation, and fibrosis. We are currently progressing early-stage validation to support future translational development.

About

Syndecpharma was founded by Dr James Whiteford, an extracellular matrix biologist and former Reader at Queen Mary University of London with more than 25 years of research experience. Author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and inventor on multiple patents, Dr Whiteford has spent the last 16 years investigating the role of syndecans in angiogenesis and fibrosis. The company's technology is based on discoveries arising from this research.

Technology

Syndecpharma's therapeutic platform originates from research into the syndecan family of heparan sulfate proteoglycans and their role in regulating cellular signalling. Our technology is based on the discovery of the syndecan-2/CD148 signalling axis and its role in regulating pathological angiogenesis and fibrosis. Using this knowledge, we have developed novel peptide therapeutics designed to modulate these pathways in disease.

Lead Programmes
